The committee led by Eng. Eyinade Patrick, Mr Quadri A. Eesuola, Mrs Eniola M. Azeez, Mr Olaniyan Oladayo and Barr. Jide Olanipekun.
The new Akesan Market consists of about Six hundred and ninety-six (696) of both lock-up shops and open units. As well as 3 warehouses and 1 cold room, a total of 24 toilets and bathrooms, 1 administrative block and clinic and a police post, 1 main car park and road network. The first block of the two completed blocks in phase 1 is named after Governor Seyi Makinde while the second one is named as Oba Adeyemi Block, after His Imperial Majesty, Iku Babayeye.
The project splits into 2 phases, which the first phase of the project, was started in August 2020 and completed in December, 2020. It comprises 352 lock-up shops, one police post, a modern toilet with 12 units for males and females, one administrative block, and a road network. The first phase is 100% completed, the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde personally inspected the site in January, 2021.
The second phase commenced in January 2021, and it is to be delivered before May 29th, 2021. The second phase of the project consists of 176 lock-up shops, 168 open shops, three warehouses for storage and preservation and a cold room, as well as 12 modern toilets and a road network.
The committee can categorically assure our esteemed members and the general public that the project is nearing completion. The project is now at about 90% completion.
Furthermore, it is worthy to mention that the contractor donated a mini abattoir and wiring of open shop units as both are not included in the terms of the contract.
The project is being handled by an indigenous company, MORTAYUS NIGERIA LIMITED.
